Laboratory Technician Intern

Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District (District) is seeking interns that will help the Laboratory respond to the increased seasonal workload and help cover absences. The interns will be exposed to basic concepts of environmental analysis. Training will be received in basic health and safety procedures, which are applicable to any laboratory setting.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

The interns will be assigned to various analytical sections of the laboratory. Their training program will include laboratory health and safety procedures, basic environmental laboratory quality control requirements, software used in their assigned area, and basic methodology. In addition to performing laboratory testing, interns will perform support duties, such as sample and reagent preparation, data analysis and entry, and glassware washing.

 

Qualifications

Students should be majoring in a science discipline, with a minimum of two semesters of college chemistry or biology laboratory courses, and basic computer skills.  Previous laboratory experience is desirable but not required. Experience and education will determine the students' placement in the laboratory.

 

Supplemental Information

This 12-week summer internship is full-time, Monday through Friday, 6:30 A.M. – 3:00 P.M. or 7:00 A.M. – 3:30 P.M.
