Data Specialist

Data Specialist 

The Data Specialist role is an integral position at Great Lakes Industrial as it focuses on ensuring our "on-time delivery" metrics meet our customer's standards and expectations. The position involves customer service, order entry, and other data entry responsibilities using multiple software systems. We expect our strategic Data specialists to pay great attention to detail and be able to communicate and collaborate effectively with team members. As the specialists grow, they will develop long-standing relationships with our account specialist team, sales reps, warehouse employees, and management team.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Essential Functions: 

  • Interact daily with team-members internally to ask/answer questions and review & confirm customer order details meet GLI requirements.
  • Daily order/data entry, accuracy on all entries, and capacity to ask for more.
  • Complete understanding of internal procedures to improve customer satisfaction ratings. 
  • Identify/Escalate customer complaints on technical, quality, billing, and delivery issues to an experienced Account Specialist for resolution.
  • Manage customer open order report (OOR), provide customer with appropriate updates, and identify any orders that need to be entered into GLI’s ERP system.
  • Manage customer portals; submitting advanced shipping notices (ASN), confirming delivery dates, and exporting open order reports if requested.
  • Assist Account Specialists & Sales Reps with customer service issues if requested.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS 

Competencies: 

A Data Specialist must have a passion for; driving “on-time delivery” results, customer satisfaction, 24-hour customer response time expectations, and identifying the need to escalate issues for effective resolution from GLI and, most importantly, for our customers. He/she must be able to multi-task and be able to change gears quickly and effectively. As GLI is looking to advance and grow, the specialist also must be able to adapt to new requirements and see change as a challenge as a growth opportunity and not a hinderance.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills for effective interface with all internal and potential external contacts
  • Must have a basic understanding of customer service operation, data entry, and analysis.
  • Detail oriented with demonstrated organizational and multitasking skills a must.
  • Team player who is assertive, goal-oriented, positive, and self-motivated.
  • High level of Integrity
  • Ability to rapidly build knowledge of GLI’s and our supplier’s product lines.
  • Ability to adapt & understand different customer-based portals for customer satisfaction.

Education: Associate degree required; Bachelor preferred

Experience: 1-2 Years of Customer Service, Data Entry or Sales experience

Computer Skills: Excellent PC computer skills – MS Word, Office, and strong skills in Excel

Certificates & Licenses: In order to satisfy proper product knowledge requirements, he/she must complete all vendor training programs as needed. Additionally, he/she must have or obtain a driver’s license to follow career pathing into sales department.
