The Baxter & Woodman Human Resources department is looking for an entry-level Human Resources Generalist to join our fast-growing company. Baxter & Woodman is an established firm celebrating over 75 years of providing consulting engineering services to municipalities, sanitary districts, and counties in IL, WI, TX, and FL. Over 300 professionals specialize in water supply, treatment, distribution; wastewater collection & treatment; residuals management; storm water runoff, flood control; transportation, intersections, street lighting; UST remediation; GIS; and SCADA systems.

POSITION DUTIES:
  • Conducts recruitment effort for all exempt and nonexempt personnel and temporary employees; conducts new-employee orientations; monitors market available candidates; and writes and places advertisements.
  • Handles employment application intake.
  • Prepares job postings.
  • Maintains all applicant documentation.
  • Reviews applications and interviews applicants to match experience with specific job-related requirements.
  • Processes job requisitions.
  • Assists and coordinates with hiring manager(s) to determine best recruiting process for position(s).
  • Acts as liaison with area employment agencies and advertising agencies.
  • Assists in communication of important employment information during delivery of employment offers (e.g., benefits, compensation, noncompete agreements).
  • Coordinates background checks.
  • Completes weekly report on employment activity.
  • Uses traditional and nontraditional resources, such as career fairs, online job fairs, community network events, etc., to identify and attract quality candidates.
  • Develops advertising programs (internal and external) to ensure high visibility with potential candidates.
  • Manages current candidate activity in the applicant tracking system (ATS).
  • Ensures compliance with USCIS Form I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification; periodically audits Forms I-9.
  • Works with hiring managers to ensure compliance with all federal/state laws and regulations, including affirmative action plan compliance and labor law posters.
  • Assists the manager with HR projects.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Psychology, or Behavior Sciences required.
  • One or more years of recruiting experience preferred.
  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain the highly confidential nature of human resources work.
  • Ability to travel to Baxter & Woodman’s regional office locations required (own transportation).
  • Ability to work independently or with a team.
  • Must be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
