Career Ambassador I

The Advising & Career Center is seeking UW Parkside students to serve as Career Ambassadors to help other students navigate the career development process in "peer mentoring" roles and to promote services, events, programs, and resources provided by the department. 
 
The Career Ambassador l will be accomplishing the following tasks throughout their time in the Advising and Career Center: 
 
1) Resume and Cover Letter Reviewing: After extensive training and shadowing, CA-l will be conducting resume and cover letter reviewing on an appointment/walk-in basis. 

2) Assisting with Events: CA-l will be playing a role in assisting with Career Fairs or other events. CA-l needs to be willing to work outside of office hours. Additionally, CA-l will assist in going to classrooms and share presentations on resumes and career readiness. 

3) Professional Development: CA-l will be working on professional development through workshops, such as setting goals, and having bi-weekly check-in meetings and quarterly performance reviews. 

4) Office tasks: Answer incoming calls, filing, and other additional office task. 

5) Front Desk: CA-l will also periodically work at the front desk assisting students with scheduling appointments and appointment check-ins, as well as answering phone calls. 
 
Required Qualifications 
  • Proficient in using Microsoft 365, such as Word, Outlook, and Teams 
  • Ability to work and communicate with a diversity pool of faculty and students 
  • Must be willing to participate in Safe Zone trainings and FERPA training 
 
Additional Qualifications 
  • Student must be an undergraduate or graduate student attending the University of Wisconsin – Parkside 
  • Must be in good academic standing  
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Outstanding attentions to detail 
  • Must be able to collaborate with other staff members, as well as working independently 
  • Strong customer service orientation: able to understand good judgement 
  • Must have a professional demeanor  
  • Dependable and punctual
